jane the virgin: portraying a bisexual man in a healthy relationship and slaying biphobes since 2017

It’s really interesting what she says “I can’t give you what a man can.” A lot of gay men avoid relationships with bi men because they worry that they can’t provide what a woman can. People, gay or straight, think that for a bi person the grass is always greener on the other side.

Straight men and lesbians have said the same. It’s insecurity rooted in the notion that bi people have all the options constantly at their fingertips AND are insatiable. We don’t choose a team, we choose a person. A failure to understand this mostly boils down to people not believing bisexuality is real.

“Money can’t buy you happiness” is propaganda from rich people to convince the poor to be satisfied with less.

Delicious, finally some good fucking food.

they’ve actually studied this, and there is a measurable point up to which money basically does buy happiness, and then past that point it stops

a billionaire is not guaranteed to be any happier than a millionaire, but both those people are almost guaranteed to be happier than someone living in poverty

(the “point” turns out to be “the time at which you have enough money that all your needs can be met without anxiety and you have some amount of money left over to do things like pursue passions, give back to the community, and do other emotionally fulfilling things.” what a shocker!)

But wait it gets better. Social scientists have found that money can buy happiness in the form of experiences. So if you go on vacation, to a concert, travel, go on a road trip, go on an adventure, play for guitar classes, pay to learn how to tap dance, etc these all cost money and these all boost happiness because you’re not buying a product but an experience or skill and that translate into more creativity (skill) or memories (experiences). Money cannot buy happiness in the form of material products.

So money can buy happiness but with many caveats.

you know what i think cis people, and especially lgb cis people, rely too much on people validating their romantic revulsion to trans people. like i’ve never met an lgb trans person who wasn’t asked “what do you think of gay people who aren’t willing to date you because of your transition status/agab/etc” and it’s the emotional labor we’re forced to carry to just say “no i don’t think you’re an evil cis gay for not being attracted to me, it’s within your right to have boundaries” an whatnot lest we be The Evil Transes Who Will Rape You.

like is it not enough to just reject us and go? can you just be satisfied in the knowledge that, yes you are rejecting us because we’re trans, but you’re gonna leave us with enough dignity to not say that’s why. we already know our attractiveness is in a permanent state of “up for debate” can you at least do this the simple courtesy of shutting up about it?

thank you to all the cis lesbians reblogging this but i still see almost no cis men reblogging it

Call me whatever the fuck you want, I’m not attracted to trans people.

congratu-fucking-lations

Okay, so after reading your post regarding references, I have a question: what’s your stance on, for lack of a better way of putting it, “tracing” stuff you made yourself? Because I often pose models in a 3D program like Blender, and “trace” renders and pictures I take with it. I know that there’s nothing ETHICALLY wrong with doing such, but I fear that doing such is an indicator of a lack of skill.

xxbluandorangexx:

NOPE, ITS NOT ONLY VALID THAT IS FUCKING SMART OF YOU

you are using tools you have access to to streamline your process. And you’re familiarizing yourself with programs that either are being used or are similar to other programs being used in studios rn to streamline their process, which is something you should boast about if you ever start to shop yourself around to said studios

being able to bullshit out a fully functional 3 point perspective enviroment using only a ruler and a pencil is very very impressive, but its also time consuming, labor intensive and is so fucking HARD to learn, my college required illustration students to take two semesters worth of course work on the subject in order to complete their degree

Shit is hard, and its now fucking obsolete

its valuable to understand how to bullshit perspective with only your mind, a marker and a blank page of paper, but its not what makes art important or valuable. If your audience can’t tell the difference between ‘shit I made in blender’ and ‘shit I made on paper’, why not take the easier route? All you’re doing is saving yourself hours of work oh and also fucking massive headaches.

and fuck anyone who wants to start a dick measuring contest based on how much time they can waste on covering their paper in confusing fucking grid-lines. While they were dicking around with sussing out perspective using tape and string, you were just as busy making shit on your computer, and if they can’t realize that, they can bite me. I’ll take Sketchup’s garbage UI and mouse controls over ANY of the crap I saw them teaching in the perspective classes, ANY FUCKING DAY

the biggest queer mormon power play ever played was when the lead singer of Neon Trees made the band famous and had several hit songs and then in rolling stone was like “oh btw i’m gay and Sleeping With a Friend is about having sex with a male friend” and then looked at his other band mates like “what are you gonna do about it” and the other band members had to be like (cough) yeah. we, uh, we know it goes against our doctrine but we support him. and he was like “that’s what I thought”

The moral of the story is that if you want to come out to your homophobic friends all you gotta do is become the face and frontman of the band that is their sole source of income and sleep w whoever you want

Otherwise just ditch em
