countries where voting is OPTIONAL is so fucking wild to me. like you’re a citizen of that country, you benefit from that community the LEAST you can do is to elect your representatives,,, like how is that even an option EVERYONE HAS TO VOTE like if you don’t then how can you say that you live in democracy??

i’ve seen arguments like “i’m not educated enough to vote” but that’s not the fucking point!!!!! the Point of democracy is that from the poorest to the richest, the most educated and the least educated ALL have the right to choose who’s going to decide their fate.

you should be really really really worried about the fact that you have the option to not participate in the decisions that affect your community and yourself.
