this is such “i’m a writer” bullshit but sometimes the mcelroy brothers vernacular is such a good example of show not tell? like when justin said he’d “bury a bowie knife” in his family’s chests for some french onion soup it’s so much more evocative than “stab” or even “stab you in the chest with a knife.” i just think about that sometimes.
