“I never thought of that before” is such an exhausting response to disabled people existing and participating in stuff.
Do better.
Seek out information.
Don’t wait to be asshole and hurt someone to THEN learn how you’re harmful.
And to be clear, obviously, it’s okay not to know EVERYTHING, just don’t be so antagonizing!
-Before you harass a person who gets up and walks away from a disabled parking spot
-Before you fight to ban something used for accessibility
ASK QUESTIONS INSTEAD OF BEING HARMFUL.
AND being called out on your harmful behavior is not being “attacked”.
The response is either from a person harmed or a person passionate about preventing harm or hurt by your harmful behavior even if it was indirectly.
