you: putting keith or shiro in women’s clothing is offensive and is gross fetishizing
me, an intellectual: Femininity is neither offensive or gross, and works depicting Keith or Shiro (or any other male character) as feminine is actually representation of feminine presenting queer cismen and transmen as well as agender/nonbinary/genderfluid/genderqueer persons, etc.
I understand that your argument stems from ‘fujoshi guilt’ which is conceptually similar to white guilt in that straight women feel guilty for shipping gay men for so many years (and fear having potentially fetishized them) and are now starting to lash out against the rest of us for trying to see ourselves in the fan media we create and consume but P.S. we’re not all straight ciswomen and fanworks are not created solely for your straight female eyes.
Fan artists who draw or write lingerie/women’s wear on men are often either trans, genderfluid or any of the other forms of Not Cis, and are often just exploring their own sexuality and gender expression and identity through fanworks. For queer people, that’s what fandoms are for. Believe it or not, fandoms are and always have been queer safe spaces, regardless of straight people’s presence.
(P.P.S. don’t jump down my throat if you’re straight, i didn’t say y’all weren’t welcome here, you obviously are.. as long as you don’t act out lmao)
Another reason you may see putting lingerie on, for example, a big guy like Shiro as offensive is the BDSM adjacent concept of feminization and ‘sissifying’ being a humilation fetish, but honestly that concept is archaic, sexist and homophobic.. and is exactly what fetishizing is.
Thanks bye!! :)))
