A few months ago I ripped apart a Moana doll and made it into a stop-motion puppet using a kinetic armature kit.
The walk cycle above was the first thing I animated with this puppet, and was just a throw-away practice test with no green screen. I had never done a walk cycle in stop-motion before and soon discovered how difficult animating a straight-ahead cycle within a localized space with no retakes could be.
I showed the cycle to my dad while he was holding my Moana puppet in his hand and he seemed more impressed with this crappy test than the actual animation I did on the movie! I think the combination of him holding the puppet, and then seeing it come to life on the video before him was what blew him away. I guess that’s the appeal and magic of stop-motion. 🙂

I read that it’s best to have the foot joints nice and tight to hold the weight of the puppet, and have the arms looser. It’s amazing how much weight those toe and foot ball-joints could hold for the falling poses:
I hope Stephen Hawking’s anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist politics aren’t erased from history, or obscured in our collective remembrance of him.
They erased MLK, George Orwell, and Hellen Keller’s anti-capitalist positions, they’ll definitely do they same for Hawking.
Hell, most people outright ignored it while he was alive.
Thinking about it, the best comparison is Einstein.
Einstein was a great advocate for socialism, economic and racial justice, and higher education, but the neoliberal capitalist system has reduced his accomplishments to “e=mc^2” and sell his likeness on pop t-shirts.
Crazy that the shit that all the geniuses agree on tends to be similar and nobody acknowledges it
I’ve seen a bunch of people in the notes concerned (like I was) of comparisons of members of the lgbt to dogs: but upon visiting their website I was reassured that they monitor a variety of content, including (but not limited to):
there is no medical component to a trans kid transitioning
if a little trans boy comes out to his parents & is like 4 all youd do for his transition is cut his hair, buy a new wardrobe, & switch pronouns & possibly change names
no one is gonna put a little 4 year old on testosterone OR puberty blockers until theyre actually about to start puberty & then they give them a few years to really decide if they want to start hormones
a trans kid existing isnt “child abuse.”
child abuse is refusing to let your kid live their lives as they truly are & forcing them to present as a gender they arent

But there’s this website called AtlasObscura.com where you can literally put in ur zip code or ur city or ur state and it’ll literally show you a map and list of a bunch big super cool interesting sometimes spooky things in ur area!!!
Like if you’re into crypts and catacombs and history and legends and unusual attractions….this is ur best bet
Especially if you’re visiting a city (like Boston cough) where you want to not solely do the popular overpriced and over packed typical tourist shit this summer!!!
