A white woman in San Francisco calls the police on an 8 year old black girl selling water bottles outside her apartment building. She does this because the girl has ‘no permit’.

“Now known virally as #PermitPatty, Ettel has two master’s degrees, one in urban planning, owns a medical marijuana business, was an equity trader and was a Brookings Institution researcher.”

Could this be more stereotypical? She owns a business that was legitimized only in the past couple of years to the exclusion of every Black person rotting away in prison who made money the same way. I could scream.

“Ettel was also set to be one of the subjects of a documentary called Lady Buds, a film about women in the cannabis industry. Upon seeing the viral footage of the phone call, however, the director of the film has announced that Ettel will be no longer involved with the project:

‘To clarify our previous statement, Alison Ettel is no longer affiliated with the documentary “Lady Buds” due to her racist and divisive actions. Our project is committed to social justice and there is no room for hate and discrimination in society, the cannabis industry or our film. We are removing all content that remotely promotes her or her business from our various platforms and will be removing her storyline from the film and all film materials.’

As for the young girl, it turns out the entire reason she was selling water bottles was to save up money to go to Disneyland, according to her cousin on Twitter. Folks who saw the video ended up purchasing the tickets for her and family members, while others pledged that they would buy water bottles from her to then donate to homeless shelters in their communities.

The mother of the child will be apparently pressing charges for harassment.“

Most of the anti-anti-immigration advice I see on here is skewed towards the US so here’s some useful UK info I just walked past

WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE STOPPED BY IMMIGRATION OFFICERS (UKBA)

If the UK Border Agency or police stop you in the street and ask you about your immigration status:

– You DO NOT have to answer any questions.

– You DO NOT have to tell them your name or address.

– Tell them that you do not want to talk to them.

– Stay polite but confident.

 – You can walk away.

They are not allowed to stop you just because of your race. They can only stop you if they have a good reason. If they stop you just because of how you look, or the language you speak, tell them:

“This is racist.“

“This is illegal.“

“I will make a complaint.“

If you are detained, call Bail for Immigration Detainees (independent from us):  020 7247 3590 / antiraids.net
