why did they give this line to the villain

Because they often give the villain the lines that are socially subversive but true, in order to get them past the censors. 

Which is incidentally what makes villains often far more relatable than heroes. 

I’m reminded of something Tim Curry said on voicing villains. “The fact is though, that bad guys are often much better written than the good guys, and they’re kind of irresistible because they’re so much fun!”

Reminds me of when I always wanted to play the bad witch during kindergarten. The princess is sleeping somewhere waiting for the prince (the cute boy in class) to come wake her up so they could marry, sure—but until he breaks free of me, I have him tied up to the chair.

as a procrastinating overachiever i feel like i don’t necessarily “half-ass” things, it’s more like a “3/4 ass”. like overall did i do pretty well? yeah. did i reach my maximum potential though? i think the fuck Not.

isn’t this literally why neurotic, anxious perfectionists procrastinate? by manufacturing a scenario where it’s impossible by virtue of circumstance to do our best, we’re never forced to confront the horrible truth that our best isn’t as good as we want?
