Listen I know that it’s the 2018-way to immediately compare every single American government corruption to the Nazis but uh, you actually don’t need to do an international comparison when trying to show the horrors of separating children from their families and putting them in “camps”.
Turns out America did that too:
(The above are pictures from Japanese Internment Camps in WWII, located right here in America. More info on the subject: x )
In fact, they did it more than once:
(The above are pictures of German-Americans who were also detained in American states. More info: x )
In fact, they did it a lot:
(The above are photos from the American Native-American “boarding schools” which separated Native American children from their families so that they could be brainwashed into embracing the white “Christian” American way. More info: x )
So when you see these appalling images in the news:
don’t start comparing America to WWII Germany.
Start comparing America to America.
Because we’ve always done this and, as long as we can get away with it, we always will.

*boy turns 30* i know you are still a child but just pretend to get your life enough bit together so that other parents can give you their daughter she can take it from there you can go back being a baby nbd
Trump is notorious for his “filing system”: when he is finished with a
piece of paper, he tears it into tiny pieces and throws it away, which
is fine if you’re a CEO (maybe), but is radioactively illegal under the
Presidential Records Act, because the President works for the public,
and is required by law to archive their official papers and save them
for public scrutiny.
White House staffers gave up on trying to explain this to Trump, who
just kept on tearing up everything, from official letters from Senators
to letters from constituents to notes and other paperwork.
The staffers – paid nearly $70,000 year – ended up with full-time jobs
retrieving scraps of paper from Trump’s trash-can and piecing them back
together with clear tape so they can be filed in the National Archives.
Some of these staffers were eventually fired; they’ve spoken to
Politico about their year in the Trump administration as paper-tapers.
any data on higher weights and early death will involve a host of confounding variables. i talk a lot about food insecurity, environmental racism, adverse conditions at work, and similar stressors which are associated both w disease & early death and w fatness. a related factor that has a large body of research demonstrating its significance is weight-based discrimination, or weight stigma.
that statistic is horrifying and should be enough to bring the entire weight loss industry (commercial, medical, public health campaigns, the whole complex) to a screeching halt…. but it doesn’t. in spite of all the contravening data, institutional fatphobia continues to profit off of the unscientific hatred & scapegoating of fat bodies
Someone: If a member of a marginalized group is being bigoted, don’t mock them for their marginalized identity. Call them out for being a bigot. Mocking a trans person for being trans, a fat person for being fat, a poc for being a poc, a mentally ill person for being mentally ill, etc., isn’t calling someone out. You can call out bigots without being a bigot yourself.
Tumblr: So you’re saying I can never call out bigots!?!
Someone: Mocking a bigot for being a part of a marginalized group or having certain physical traits hurts people in that group or with those traits. Mocking a trans person for being trans hurts all trans people, mocking a fat person for being fat hurts all fat people, etc. You don’t have to care about the person who is bigoted or out their feelings above your own, but you should care about other people who didn’t do anything wrong.
Tumblr: So you want me to care about bigots and put their feelings above my own?!?!
Someone: Mocking a bigot for things other than their bigotry implies that those things are worse than their bigotry. If you mock a fat bigot for being fat, you are saying the fact they are fat is a bigger crime than the fact they are a bigot, that it is worse to be fat than a bigot, etc. You shouldn’t think that way. Being a bigot should offend you more than being fat. Same with being a bigot vs. being trans or a poc or mentally ill or anything else. Being a bigot is always worse. Being a bigot is bad. Being fat, a poc, trans, etc., are not bad.
Tumblr: Why do you think being a bigot isn’t bad!?!
Someone: I hate bigots but I don’t think mocking them for things other than their bigotry does anything to end bigotry. It just allows it to keep going as long as you can justify why your target “deserves” it, and that’s not okay. Bigotry is never okay.
Tumblr: So you don’t hate bigots and you think bigotry is okay. #Reciepts
