tbh i feel like people put too much into thinking of deku’s quirklessness as being the source of bakugou’s issue w/ him rather than an exacerbating factor that allowed it to get as bad as it did
because in my mind the source of bakugou’s discomfort stemmed from deku treating bakugou like a person with weaknesses that can get hurt and could be in need of assistance whereas everyone else treated him as tho he were invincible so deku’s actions were irreconcilable w/ his worldview and so to him the only reason deku would treat him that way was if he was looking down on bakugou. cuz i mean this is the thought process of a four year old and it just so happens that that worldview was never challenged. and that’s where deku’s quirklessness comes in because it does allow bakugou to think that deku is inherently below him (which makes deku’s perceived looking down on bakugou even worse) AND because everyone basically treated deku as a joke it gave bakugou the excuse to be like ‘no of course he’s not a threat he’s quirkless’ and in that way he could ignore the strength that he in fact knew that deku possessed because acknowledging it means acknowledging where he falls short i.e. accepting that he’s not inherently the best and that there are things others are better at than him & that there are strengths he never put stock in that he needs work on
