I am fairly sure there are other explanatory factors for a dropping life expectancy, such as skyrocketing obesity rates and no one exercising enough. There’s not much evidence that increases in the quantity of working hours is linked to a dropping life expectancy.
Sometimes I forget that there was a Scooby-Doo movie starring Wendy Corduroy, Mr. Bean, Isla Fisher and Buffy the Vampire Slayer along with several legitimate martial artists and pro wrestlers, created solely because the scriptwriter (Who would later direct Guardians of the Galaxy) hated Scrappy-Doo and wanted everyone else to hate him too.
The idea that film piracy “costs” anyone anything is fallacious, because it assumes that for every film you download, you would definitely have paid for it otherwise. Which just isn’t true. In most cases, you just wouldn’t have seen it.
Like if I download some film from 1974 that sounds cool, they’re assuming that I would have bought the DVD. But I wouldn’t have bought the DVD, I just wouldn’t have seen it.
And what about when you download foreign films that haven’t even been officially released in your country, how much does that “cost” the economy?
