Can you imagine how terrifying it must have been for Dorian to come south? He’s there with no connections, no friends except Felix who can’t help him, no money, barely scraping by. It’s only been a year or two since he ran away from home and that betrayal has to still be fresh for him. He’s pretty much hated by everyone on sight here in the south, recognized as Tevinter, and he ends up siding with an organization ominously called the Inquisition in order to fight against Alexius who is probably a father figure, thus cutting himself off from the last person who might have cared for him. And he goes into it completely open, willing to answer all the typical questions and accusations, doing his best to be completely honest and friendly even while people like Cassandra are sure he’s a liar and might betray them, even while people spit at him. Still, he desperately wants to stay to help, to protect the Inquisitor, someone he’s barely just met. All because he believes it’s the right thing to do. That all took such an incredible amount of courage and I’m so proud of him
